A HORRIFIC high-rise blaze has left at least one person dead as desperate residents jump from an 11th-story window to escape.
The fire broke out at a residential building in Dhaka, Bangladesh, this evening.
The terrifying incident happened at 7pm on the sixth floor of the 12-story Gulshan building.
According to The Daily Star, at least three people jumped from the 11th floor to save themselves.
More than 19 firefighting crews were called to the scene to extinguish the blaze.
The fire was under control as of 11pm, however, local authorities confirmed at least one person was dead.
The man was rushed to Dhaka Medical College but died in the ambulance.
The three others who jumped from the building remain in critical condition at the hospital.
Bachchu Mia, inspector of the hospital, said it was a male who died.
A team from the Bangladesh army was deployed to rescue residents trapped inside the building on the lower floors.
More than 22 people were rescued including nine men, 12 women and one child.
Authorities are investigating the cause of the fire.
