Top BBC and Channel 4 star in shock split with wife after 11 years of marriage
COUNTDOWN host Colin Murray has split from his wife Carly Paradis.
It emerged that the couple, who married in 2012, ended their relationship late last year and have quietly told friends.
A source close to Colin, 45, said Murray and composer Carly, 42, grew apart after he first took over from Anne Robinson on the Channel 4 show last July.
The source said: “Colin and Carly separated after work pushed them apart.
“Colin got really busy with Countdown and his BBC Radio 5 Live show, while Carly is busy at work as a musician.
“They ultimately took the decision at the end of last year that it was no longer working between them.
“Colin and Carly have been open with their friends and family about their break-up and are trying to move on as best they can.”
Earlier this month Colin hinted at his split from Carly.
When asked by Radio Times magazine who controlled the television remote in his house, Colin replied: “It’s just me, so me. I’m master of my domain.”
Canada-born Carly is best known for composing the music for the BBC’s hit drama Line Of Duty.
She went on to write the theme song for Sky One’s Sick Note and ITV’s Prime Suspect 1973.
Last year the talented pianist also joined Nick Cave and The Bad Seeds on tour across Europe.
Colin hosts his late night radio show on Monday to Thursday as well as presenting the TV words and numbers game. He was announced as 78-year-old Anne’s full-time replacement last month.
He said: “It’s a career dream to be named as permanent anchor of one of television’s most iconic programmes.”
