5. REPORTS
- Billy Sanderson: Regionals are on for March 5, 2023. VFGPA will be hosting one 720 each month until Nationals; some will be judged, some will not. Dates will be sent out to members, who are welcome to shoot for a small fee (TBD).
- Ellen Vander Hoek: Drop-in archery on Monday nights has been fairly popular since January with turnouts of over 16 people every time.
- Helena Myllyniemi: Busy with classes through Saanich Commonwealth; also planning for summer camps. JOP has been popular with about 24 kids showing up regularly. Helena has handed out 107 certificates this year and one JOP athlete will be participating in the BC Winter Games.
- Larry Gagnon: The club has 89 members currently
6. BUSINESS ARISING FROM THE MINUTES
- Canadian Outdoor Championships 2023
- Review of Preliminary Budget.
- If anyone has ideas for clothing/swag reach out to Al or Greg B.
- The club will be looking for sponsors; if anyone has connections or is willing to canvass different areas please reach out to Al. The Victoria Bowmen website has information for sponsors.
7. NEW BUSINESS
- Summer Lessons through Saanich Commonwealth Place: Saanich Commonwealth Place would like to continue Adult classes on Sundays but we need an instructor. None have been forthcoming – Al will contact Saanich Recreation to inform them, there will be no lessons in July and August, hopefully the same schedule can continue in September.
- Equipment Purchase – club bows for beginners: General feeling is that the bows we have now need to be kept. We need the light bows for teaching and beginner archers looking to buy equipment can be directed to local or online stores by coaches.
- Indoor Shooting times – Summer: Indoor shooting times may be kept the same unless attendance decreases; a survey may be put in a newsletter to get member input.
- Butt Stands: Vesa will modify some existing stands to better support the pillow butts.
- Private Lessons: page on website is being updated. There are still lesson requests coming in but fewer places to coach. If you are a certified coach interested in coaching privately notify Al and he will add your name to the list of coaches.
- Regional Indoor Timings etc.: March 5, 2023. JOP will be cancelled to allow for more shooting time. Looking at a 1:30 start time, possibly booking a room for registration and equipment set-up. Need judges and timers.
8. DISBURSEMENTS FOR APPROVAL
