I’m a young mum & I’m shamed for how I raise my son…he doesn’t have a bedtime, is spoilt & I dress him like me, so what?
A MOTHER who goes by the pronouns they/them, has taken to social media to reveal the reasons why they are “mum-shamed.”
Dana Pearson, 22, from Utah, United States, who posts on TikTok under the username @illmindofdana, took to the video sharing platform to open up about the reasons why they get mum-shamed.
Dana explained that they fell pregnant when they were just 17-years-old and as a young parent, is constantly shamed for how they bring up their son.
Dana shared their video and explained: “Reasons why I get mum shamed” and noted “there’s definitely more but yeah.”
Dana firstly explained that they are mum-shamed because they “let him choose his own bedtime.”
Secondly, Dana explained that they are judged by other parents because they let their toddler “do his own makeup to match mine.”
Not only this, but Dana revealed that they let their son “dye his hair.”
As well as this, Dana noted that they “let him choose what he does and doesn’t want to eat.”
Moreover, Dana explained that some people don’t agree with their parenting because they “spoil him.”
Not only this, but Dana explained that they work in McDonald’s and noted that they “let him go to work with me while I do the final closing stuff.”
Dana also explained that people mum-shame them because they let their son “choose his own [face] mask”, to which he often opts for a unicorn one.
Similarly, Dana noted that they “let him wear skirts” and “let him do his own makeup while I do mine”, which many other parents don’t agree with.
Dana’s video has clearly left many open-mouthed as it has quickly gone viral and has amassed 2 million views.
