I went from 120lbs to 160lbs at the gym – I’m proof your ‘goal body’ may be heavier than you think
LOSING weight is the goal of many gym-goers, but it isn’t the sole reason to work out.
One “gym girl” revealed her dramatic transformation and the 40-pound weight gain that has her happier than ever.
When fitness influencer Emily McKeon (@emilymckeonfit) began exercising, she didn’t set out to lose weight.
She wanted a sculpted, strong, and curvy body, along with the ability to lift weights and maintain her stamina.
That’s just what she got, and she earned it by putting on 40 pounds of muscle.
In a video, McKeon documented the stunning transformation.
A clip of her at just under 120 pounds showed her starting out, lifting hand weights as she did lunges in a fitness studio.
The next video showed McKeon’s buff body, 160 pounds strong and lifting much heavier weights on a machine.
“This is your reminder your goal body is probably heavier than you think,” she wrote in the caption.
McKeon addressed her message to all the other “gym girls” trying to set healthy, attainable goals.
“Someone needs to see this today,” she said in the caption.
The comment section included feedback from women on all stages of their fitness journeys.
One fan confirmed McKeon’s theory was right. “Thank you,” she wrote, grateful for the reminder.
Another woman said her goal was to bulk up, too, but she wasn’t sure where to start.
“How do I do it?” she pleaded, with a little laugh thrown in.
A follower told McKeon she was already on her way to a sculpted body.
She ate a clean diet, did lots of cardio workouts, and said she’d recently started lifting.
The poster had already gained four pounds – so it was a great time for McKeon’s reminder that weight gain can be a goal, too.
