I jumped on the Air Fryer trend but it’s not as great as they say – it’s noisy & the fries aren’t as good as McDonald’s
It’s the most on trend appliance in your kitchen, but how much do we really know about our Air Fryers before we jump on the bandwagon and buy one of our own?
The idea of frying without oil certainly sounds appealing, but are they all they’re cracked up to be?
An air fryer uses hot air to cook the food, which give it a crispy texture.
But for all it’s merits, writer Stephanie Lowe told Good To Know some key things you should be aware of before splashing out on one of your own.
First off, despite describing it as “a game changer” the foodie mum-of-one did explain that they aren’t magic solutions to everything.
She warned that, if you have visions of recreating your favourite crispy chicken and McDonald’s fries, you will be disappointed.
While the air fryer can make both of those things well, she warned that they won’t beat the original.
Stephanie said: “The texture is slightly different, and the taste is not identical.”

She also explain that you can do so much more than just frying with the wondrous machine.
You can roast veggies, grill chicken and even bake bread.
But, the foodie also shared that you will need to use a hint of oil to keep your food tasting nice.
She said: “While an air fryer doesn’t require as much oil as traditional deep-frying methods, some amount of oil is typically recommended for best results.”
Another thing the mum wasn’t prepared for when she made her purchase was the noise level of the air fryer when it’s running.
She said: “One thing I didn’t anticipate when I bought my air fryer was how loud it can be.
“The fan that circulates the hot air can be quite noisy, and it might not be the best choice for people who have sensitive hearing or live in house shares with thin walls.
“However, the noise is not unbearable, and it’s worth it for the delicious food that comes out of the air fryer.”
Although she highlighted a few unexpected negatives, Stephanie’s review was overall a good one and she was particularly keen to stress how great leftovers taste when heated up in the appliance.
She said: “Much more delicious than a soggy microwave offering that’s for sure. Absolute game changer for me and mine.”
