REGULAR SEASON SCHEDULE VS. POWELL RIVER KINGS
Friday, February 24th @ Kopar Memorial Arena (7:00 PM)
It’s the first time the Powell Ring Kings have been up to Prince George since the 2019-20 regular season. In fact, Prince George and Powell River have only faced each other four times in the last five years.
Powell River comes into Friday’s game after defeating the Cowichan Valley Capitals 5-2 on Sunday. Karter McNarland, the Kings leading scorer with 34 points, tallied a hat-trick in that game. It’s his second hat trick since being in the BCHL. The first time he tallied a trio was back in 2021-22 when he scored three goals and two assists against Cranbrook on October 22, 2021.
A quick start will serve the Spruce Kings well as they are 9-1-1-1 when they lead after the first period.
The Kings currently rank seventh in the Coastal Division standings with a record of 14-23-3-3. However, they find themselves 13 points behind Chilliwack and Victoria who sit fifth and sixth.
REGULAR SEASON SCHEDULE VS. PENTICTON VEES (VEES LEAD SEASON SERIES 3-1)
Friday, November 4th @ South Okanagan Events Centre (4-0 Vees) (BOXSCORE)
Saturday, November 19th @ South Okanagan Events Centre (4-1 Vees) (BOXSCORE)
Friday, January 6th @ Kopar Memorial Arena (3-0 Vees) (BOXSCORE)
Saturday, January 7th @ Kopar Memorial Arena (3-0 Spruce Kings) (BOXSCORE)
Saturday, February 25th @ Kopar Memorial Arena (7:00 PM)
It’s been a month and a half since the last time the Spruce Kings and Vees faced off against each other.
The two teams split their last weekend series, which was held at Kopar Memorial Arena. The Vees took the first game by a score of 3-0, only to then have the script flipped the following night as Jordan Fairlie became the first goalie to earn a shutout this season against Penticton. Fairlie remains the only goalie to do so this season.
Regardless of the outcome on Saturday, the Vees will win the season series as they currently have defeated the Spruce Kings three times this season. The Vees won the initial two meetings at their home rink of the South Okanagan Events Centre, followed up with a win in Prince George in early January.
Penticton is 9-0-0-1 since the last time they faced Prince George and will play host to the Wenatchee Wild on Friday before making the trek north to Prince George.
Colton Cameron enters the weekend having tallied five assists in his last three games, and will look to continue that offensive output this weekend.
