‘Still don’t convince me’ – Mark Lawrenson predicts Spurs v Chelsea score
Football pundit Mark Lawrenson has been looking ahead to the weekend’s action in the Premier League, and he is of the opinion that Chelsea will get back to winning ways against Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday.
Tottenham have struggled to put together a consistent run of results all season, but still find themselves in fourth place in the Premier League going into the weekend after a convincing 2-0 win over London rivals West Ham last weekend.
The Lilywhites continue to be without manager Antonio Conte, who is still in Italy recovering from his surgery.
Assistant boss Cristian Stellini will be looking to maintain his unbeaten record as Tottenham’s temporary manager.
While Spurs have been far from convincing this season, that is nothing compared to the problems at Chelsea. Despite spending £323 million in January (ESPN), the Blues find themselves in tenth place in the Premier League.
Graham Potter faces increasing pressure at Stamford Bridge after losing to bottom-of-the-league Southampton last weekend, and it is thought any more poor results could see the young manager lose his job (GOAL).
It’s a tough one to call, but Lawrenson had this to say when predicting the scores for Paddy Power: “There’s rumours doing the rounds that if Chelsea lose this they’ll get rid of Graham Potter.
“I don’t get that. No, the results have not been good, and maybe they’ve signed too many players, but they still don’t have a striker.”
“You can have all the most creative midfielders in the world but if there’s no one there to put it in then what’s the point? Todd Boehly says they’re going to stick with him and I actually believe him,” he added.
On Tottenham’s situation, Lawrenson continued: “Funnily enough Tottenham have been doing better without Antonio Conte in the dugout but they still don’t convince me and something’s telling me to go for a Chelsea win. I hope they stick with Potter.”

It’s written in the stars that Chelsea will finally find their feet and get the win over Spurs that can kickstart their season.
I hope I’m wrong, but I just cannot see us winning. We always struggle against Chelsea anyway, and this just feels like the perfect opportunity for them to be fired up and beat us.
