Wind faded back to 6-7 kts from the north overnight, but the Bureau says it’ll pick up steadily across the morning and be 20-25 kts this afternoon. Swell at 0840 was 1.2 metres and coming from the ESE with a reasonable 12 second period. So sets were into the shoulder plus range along the beach at Dee Why. Pretty much all the local early risers were in the 24 degree water too and it looked busy from Long Reef to Dee Why. Beachwatch reports clean water all the way along the peninsula. Tide was low at 0805 and will be back to a modest 1.28 high at 1400. Weather should be mostly sunny with a high of 30.
The strong wind’s set to swing SE tomorrow, so surface quality prospects aren’t great although there should still be some swell. Tuesday am could be cleaner, but with weaker swell. We should have surfable if unspectacular conditions for the early sessions right through the week.
Go well one and all.
Weather Situation
Fresh and gusty northeasterly winds along the coast ahead of a trough which will bring a southerly change to the southern half during today. After this, northeasterly winds will redevelop as the trough weakens and a ridge of high pressure develops.
