Oliver Skipp sends message to Spurs fans after his first goal for the club

0

Oliver Skipp took to the Tottenham official Twitter channel to send a message to his fans this afternoon after his long-range strike helped to seal all three points in the London derby against Chelsea.

Skipp has been around the first team for a number of years now after climbing his way through the academy during Mauricio Pochettino’s time at the club.

However, while the midfielder has come on leaps and bounds on the pitch, the 22-year-old was still yet to get off the mark in front of goal – which is perhaps hardly surprising given his defensive midfield position.

It turned out that Skipp was saving his first goal for a big occasion, as he let fly from outside the box in his 43rd Premier League appearance for Tottenham, sending the ball flying past Kepa into the back of the Chelsea net just 19 seconds into the second half.

After the match, he said (Tottenham Twitter): “Hi, Spurs fans! Massive result today. So happy to score my first goal and we’ll keep building on this. And thanks for all your support today, it was massive in helping us get the three points.”

Spurs Web Opinion:

There is no better feeling than seeing an academy player who loves the club score his first goal. And what a meaningful goal it was too! Essentially the match-winner in a derby against Chelsea, which Spurs rarely walk away with three points from. Well done, Skippy!
