[Softball] Softball Falcons drop two at No. 1 Oklahoma City
OKLAHOMA CITY – The Friends University Falcons gave the No. 1-ranked Oklahoma City University Stars all they wanted in game one, but the Stars pulled out a 4-1 win before finishing off the sweep with a 10-2 win in the second tilt today (Feb. 25) in Oklahoma City.
The Falcons broke out on top in the second inning of the opener on Carolyn Dallimore (SR/Patterson, Calif. )'s second homer of the season.
But the Stars answered with a homer of their own on a solo blast by Analise Rayburn and then grabbed the lead with an RBI double by Brooklyn Mason.
A two-run homer by Kaitlyn Jones in the bottom of the fourth provided the Stars all the runs necessary to back up Shelbey Cornelson's winning effort in the circle.
Laila Spracklen (SR/San Diego, Calif. ) turned in a solid performance of her own, giving up four runs while striking out eight and walking none against the potent Stars' lineup.
The nightcap saw the Stars waste no time in taking command, as a two-run double by Kamryn Garvie ignited a three-run first inning.
OCU added two more in the second prior to a two-run single by Tiffany Paul finishing a four-run third inning that broke things open.
The Falcons (2-2) got on the scoreboard in the fourth with an RBI triple by Priscilla Mora (SO/Beaumont, Calif. ) and a run-scoring groundout from Makenna Mitchell (SR/Orange County, Calif. ).
Lexi Duff went 3.1 innings and gave up one run to pick up the win for the Stars (8-2).
Tomorrow's home games vs. Hastings College have been postponed due to the potential of severe weather, so the Falcons will next host Missouri Valley College Thursday afternoon (Mar. 2) at 3 pm at Two Rivers Youth Complex.
