Downwind S Technique

I recently sailed and finished runner up in a regatta where 1st place went to one of the top laser sailors in the Texas Fleet.

In between races he and I compared notes and while I seemed to be as fast as he was upwind, he would leave me behind downwind as the wind picked up.
