MANCHESTER UNITED have been hit with a new blow after reports top transfer target Frenkie de Jong wants to stay at Barcelona.

This comes just hours after United suffered their equal-heaviest loss with Liverpool beating them 7-0 at Anfield.

Elsewhere, captain Bruno Fernandes has been forced to deny claims that he asked to be substituted towards the 7-0 trouncing at Anfield.

Fernandes was seen gesticulating at the United bench as Anthony Elanga was brought on for Marcus Rashford with five minutes of the game remaining.
