I compared loads of popular sweet treats in Tesco and Home Bargains – here’s where to shop to save cash this Easter
A MONEY-SAVING whizz has revealed where to shop for Easter treats to slash the costs.
With Easter just a few weeks away, it’s time to start stocking up on chocolate eggs and adorable bunnies.
But how to make sure you don’t spend hundreds and hundreds? And where to find the best deals?
Well, one foodie and shopping guru, Kathryn Leech, better known as @katsaves on TikTok, has done the work for us and compared two popular stores – Tesco and Home Bargains.
Armed with a camera, Kathryn explored both stores and tried to find the same items to see where it retailed for less.
According to the video, a packet of Cadbury Mini Eggs will cost you £1.15 at Tesco, whilst the same size 80g bag of treats retail for £1.09 at Home Bargains.
If you fancy a pack of five Cadbury Creme Egg, you’re better off shopping at Tesco – here it retails for just £2, whilst the same item is 9p more expensive at Home Bargains.
For those who like Cadbury Mini Eggs but want the giant egg, Home Bargains offers the best deal – £7.99 in comparison to the £10 at Tesco.
Cadbury is also known for their Dairy Milk Crunchie giant egg – this is available at Tesco for £12 and Home Bargains sells it for over £2 less at £9.99.
If your tots are big fans of Maltesers Teasers Easter egg, both stores offer the treat at a similar price – Home Bargains will set you back by £2.99, whereas Tesco – by £3.
The same price, it turns out, applies for Smarties large egg, as well as Celebrations Easter treats.

Now that you’ve bought all the sweet treats, it’s time to devour them.
But according to one woman, we’ve beet eating chocolate eggs all wrong – and there’s a crucial step that makes all the difference.
Taking to TikTok, Grace shared the new way to eat Mini Eggs – and after people tried it they revealed they’d never go back to eating them straight out the packet.
In the short TikTok video, Grace, better known as It’s Grace G, showed the improved way of eating the classic Easter chocolate.
“My new favourite thing,” she captioned the post.
The foodie emptied a few of the chocolate eggs into a microwavable bowl.
She added that she wasn’t thrilled her bag only came with a few of the yellow eggs.
Grace then chucked them in the microwave for 50 seconds before devouring her new favourite snack.
And we have to agree the easy food hack makes Mini Eggs look even more amazing.
The hard shell stays intact but the chocolate inside goes gooey – dreamy.
Grace revealed: “I’ll never eat them normally again.”
The video has since gone viral with over two million views and 176k likes.
People were quick to share their thoughts in the comments section, claiming it was definitely the best way to eat them.
However, some people warned to keep an eye on them in the microwave.
One wrote: “Bro, I did this years ago and it broke my microwave it literally almost blew up I’m not even joking. Only try this if you have a microwave oven.”
Others revealed they had done it with no issues, one penned: “Just tried it and it was so good omlll.”
Another person commented: “game-changer.”
“I love these so much,” added a third.
Meanwhile, a fourth wrote: “You can do the same with Minstrels and they are heavenly oml.”
