East Bay: Chick-Fil-A is coming to Concord
Concord will soon join Walnut Creek, Pleasanton, Livermore and Pittsburg with that fast food claim to fame: Its very own Chick-Fil-A.
The somewhat controversial chain — known for tasty chicken sandwiches but also funding organizations that have been accused of being anti-LGBTQ — is making its next East Bay footprint in the former Claim Jumper at the Willows Shopping Center, 1981 Diamond Blvd., Concord. This will be the Bay Area’s 24th Chick-Fil-A. The highly-anticipated Livermore restaurant opened this past December and had police on traffic alert.
An opening date for Concord has not been set, but plan on traffic at the intersection of Diamond Boulevard and Willow Pass Road off Highway 680 to increase, at least temporarily. For the dinner rush, lines start forming along North Main Street in Walnut Creek before 5 p.m. to enter the restaurant’s driveway. Like most locations, Walnut Creek is open from 6:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday-Saturday. Chick-Fil-A restaurants are always closed on Sundays.
So what’s all the fuss? A whopping 10 ways to get your chicken: Fried, grilled, spicy, in a sandwich, in a wrap and in nuggets that are either fried or grilled, with a calorie range of 130 to 660. They also offer three salads, two soups, milkshakes, soft serve and waffle fries. Details: www.chick-fil-a.com.
