WHL roundup: ICE plow past Wheat Kings for 4-1 win

WINNIPEG - Zack Ostapchuk scored a goal and added two assists as the Winnipeg ICE defeated the visiting Brandon Wheat Kings 4-1 in Western Hockey League action on Sunday.

Owen Pederson, Evan Friesen and Connor McClennon also scored for the Eastern Conference-leading ICE (52-9-1-0), who led 1-0 after the first period and 4-0 heading into the third.

Nate Danielson scored for the Wheat Kings (26-29-8-0), who outshot the ICE 31-28.

The ICE went 2-for-5 on the power play, while the Wheaties were 0-for-2.

SASKATOON, Sask. — Keaton Sorensen scored twice and added an assist as the visiting Prince Albert Raiders crushed the Saskatoon Blades 8-1.

Hayden Pakkala, Sloan Stanick, Evan Herman, Carter Anderson, Harrison Lodewyk and Justice Christensen also scored for the Raiders (26-33-3-0), who led 2-1 after the first and 5-1 heading into the third.

Brandon Lisowsky scored for the Blades (44-14-4-1), who outshot the Raiders 33-25.

MOOSE JAW, Sask. — Denton Mateychuk scored twice and added two assists as the Moose Jaw Warriors beat the visiting Swift Current Broncos 7-3.

Tate Schofer, Brayden Yager, Jagger Firkus, Ryder Korczak and Logan Dowhaniuk also scored for the Warriors (38-22-0-3), who were outshot 31-24.

Mathew Ward, Sam McGinley and Brady Birnie scored for the Broncos (28-30-1-3), who trailed 3-1 after the first period and 6-3 after 40 minutes.

LANGLEY, B.C. — Ty Thorpe scored at 1:10 of overtime as the Vancouver Giants knocked off the visiting Prince George Cougars 3-2.
