Jonnie Irwin addresses A Place in the Sun ‘return’ after reuniting with co-stars at event
FANS of the presenter hoped that he would make a comeback to the Channel 4 programme after being spotted with co-host.
Jonnie has took to social media to deny any rumors of making a return to television through A Place in the Sun.
The 49-year-old is currently spending time with his family and friends as he continues his battle against stage four lung cancer.
The TV star shares three children — Rex, 3, and 2-year-old twins, Rafa and Cormac with — his 40-year-old wife, Jessica.
Despite a recent picture of himself and his longtime co-host, Jasmine Harman, at a Channel 4 event raising hopes for a possible TV comeback, Jonnie has made it clear through his official Instagram account that there is no truth to these speculations.
This event was the first time the two co-hosted since Jonnie’s announcement about his terminal cancer diagnosis, despite working together for almost two decades.
He wrote: “Last week I got to team up with my mate again at @aplaceinthesunofficial Live. It was the busiest for years but, for some reason, the papers are talking about it as a comeback for me.
“Just to confirm @aplaceinthesunofficial is a separate company running the website and affiliated business and has supported me continuously though-out which I’m eternally grateful for. Here’s looking forward to the next one!”
Despite the news that there will be no Channel 4 return, many social media users expressed their delight about the reunion in the comments.
One penned: “So good to see you together. You may not realise how many dark evenings you both brighten.”
Another said: “My favourite two. I wish I could have made it to Manchester. I remember seeing you two along with Amanda many years ago in Manchester.”
A third commented: “Great to see you carrying on as normally as possible. You’re an inspiration, Jonnie. Everyone loves and is rooting for you.”
Last November, Jonnie was forced to step down from his job on A Place in the Sun after discovering that his cancer had spread to his brain.
The dad-of-three was diagnosed with lung cancer when he was told he had just months to live.
A Place In The Sun said at the time: “Much loved by everyone on the production, no stone was left unturned in trying to enable Jonnie to continue his international filming with us during Covid but the production company was unable to secure adequate insurance cover for him.
“Whilst we were unable to continue to film abroad with him, we’re delighted that he was able to remain as part of our team in the UK for exhibitions.
“We of course understand how frustrating this must be for him at this incredibly difficult time.”
