My parents came up with a genius hack to stop me lying as a kid – it worked so well I’ll be doing it with my children
A WOMAN has revealed the ‘genius’ hack her parents used to stop her lying as a kid.
Emma Hall shared that her parents told her and her brother that a blue dot would appear on their foreheads every time they fibbed – and claims it worked for years.
So, in a bid to cover the dot, the pair would always cover their foreheads or wear a hat – tell-tale signs their parents would look out for.
The content creator, known online as @mynameisemmahall, regularly shares entertaining videos with her 362,400 followers.
In a new TikTok reel, she said: “The best parenting hack that my parents ever used was they told my brother and I that any time we lied, a blue dot would show up on our forehead.
“So any time we were lying, we would be like, ‘I did not hit him, I did not hit him’.”
During the 17-second video, Emma reenacted the various ways she and her brother would try to cover their foreheads.
Sometimes this would involve covering it with their hands, while other times they would wear hats.
She continued: “Or like we’d wear a hat so they always knew when we were lying.
“It’s foolproof, it’s so smart.”
Below the video, she added: “This worked for way too long.”
Fans loved the simple idea, with the video gaining more than 116,500 likes and 910,100 views.
In the comments, other TikTok users shared their reactions, with one writing: “Thats soo smart. I need to start doing that to my kids.”

A third commented: “My mom told us our nose got bigger and we’d hold our noses.”
