Who is Ruben White?
RUBEN White was jailed for a violent attack on a man in Kent in 2017.
He has been in prison since then, having spent almost six years behind bars. But who is he and what did he do?
Who is Ruben White?
White is a convicted criminal, currently serving a prison sentence for GBH with intent.
He was jailed for eight years in 2017 for biting a man’s ear off.
White had previously been sentenced to three-and-a-half years in prison for manslaughter in 2011.
The incident took place in November 2016, after White, Amelia Waters and Liam Hudson, were found to have attacked Ian Hayward following a previous road rage incident.
The court at the time heard that his licence period had expired by the time of the attack on Mr Hayward.
Hayward was left in need of reconstructive surgery following the attack in a residential street. The piece of ear bitten off by White was never found.
Judge Philip Statman gave White an extended prison sentence, concluding he was dangerous in law and posed a risk to the public.
Statman said “This is a grave offence and unfortunately it involves violence in the street with premeditation and use of a weapon, namely teeth.
“We have a very ugly injury which has occurred.”
Statman told all three: “I detect not a hint of remorse at any stage during the course of your trial. Now, I am told by your counsel you are genuinely sorry for what you have done.”
Judge Statman said he was satisfied White passed the “test” for dangerousness, as there had been an escalation in his level of violence.
After the end of his sentence, White will remain on licence for a further three years.
