Report: Source reveals potential boost in Spurs’ hopes of keeping Harry Kane
Manchester United have been left to consider alternative striking options for their summer transfer plans after being left concerned over the prospect of dealing with Tottenham Hotspur chairman Daniel Levy, according to ESPN.
The Manchester Evening News reported earlier this month that United boss Erik ten Ha had made Kane his primary forward target for the upcoming transfer window and is intent on landing the England captain.
Kane has just over a year to run on his existing contract in north London and is yet to win any silverware during his time at Tottenham after the club were knocked out of the FA Cup and Champions League in the space of seven days.
The report claims that United do not wish to get involved in a drawn-out negotiation with Levy in any attempt to sign Kane which could run until the final days of the window.
Levy has previous history of dealing with United after the former manager Sir Alex Ferguson revealed in his 2015 book, ‘Leading‘, that he found negotiations with chairman Levy particularly difficult when bringing Dimitar Berbatov to Old Trafford, describing it as more painful than his hip replacement.
Instead, the former Premier League champions are also considering two players who currently ply their trade in Serie A in the form of Napoli’s Victor Osimhen and Juventus front man Dusan Vlahovic.
A source told ESPN: “United can’t afford to start the season without a new striker,”
“And having dealt with Levy in the past, they don’t want to go through that nightmare all over again for Kane with so much at stake, so they might not even get involved.”
The Athletic reported earlier this morning that Tottenham have absolutely no intention in selling Kane and have began preliminary talks with the talisman, such is their intent on ensuring that he puts pen to paper on a new deal.

Daniel Levy certainly won’t allow any club to take Harry Kane off his hands without a fight, especially to a Premier League rival – it would be heartbreaking to see Kane and Christian Eriksen link up again when in reality both players should be in N17.
Manchester United appear to be the only realistic option for Kane in England with Chelsea and Arsenal out of question, while Manchester City instead signed Erling Haaland and Liverpool not likely to make a move.
Many fans would not begrudge Kane the opportunity to win trophies before he hangs up his boots, however, it seems unlikely it will happen at Spurs in the immediate future.
