Thankfully for the city of Shillong, it need not be a utopian ideal, as the situation is ideal for putting in place futuristic plans for the town now. The success of the Decongestion in Shillong Traffic project requires the collaboration and commitment of all stakeholders, with a planned and structured approach. Shillong's unique socio-cultural context as a city within the VI Schedule of the Indian Constitution provides an opportunity to create an example for the world to follow.
