Mysuru district health officer Dr KH Prasad on Tuesday claimed social and health factors are significant reasons for differences in sex ratio. Presiding over the divisional-level workshop on Pre-Conception and Pre-Natal Diagnostic Techniques (PCPNDT) Act, 1994 organised by the department of health and family here, Prasad said that in the last two decades there has been a significant change in gender ratio. In 2001-2002, the ratio was 964 females per 1,000 males whereas it was 953 females per 1,000 males in 2011-12.
