When is the Gold Cup?
The Gold Cup will be run at 3.30pm on Friday.
It is the biggest and richest race of the week, worth £351,688 to the winner.
Run over 3m2½f, the winner can consider themselves the top staying chaser in training.
A Plus Tard and Blackmore stormed away to win last year, with runner-up Minella Indo a full 15 lengths behind.
Protektorat finished third and all three will race again this year.
But the favourite is Willie Mullins’ Galopin Des Champs.
But those piling into him will remember when he threw away last year’s Turners after unseating Townend at the last.
He is unbeaten since then and comes into the race as the horse to beat.
