Gogglebox’s Georgia Bell hits back after being mum-shamed for ‘bragging about an easy birth’
GOGGLEBOX star Georgia Bell has hit back after being mum-shamed for “bragging about having an easy birth”.
Georgia – who welcomed her first child – a baby boy called Hugh last July – shared a sweet throwback photo of her son shortly after giving birth.
Alongside the picture of the sleeping tot, the TV star wrote: “Labour five hours. Push 20 minutes.”
But many followers were quick to accuse her of glamorising her birth experience.
Shocked by the response, Georgia wrote: “Little bit sick of the grief I am getting after posting this yesterday.
“By no means was I bragging of having an ‘easy birth’ it wasn’t like that at all.”
Georgia then opened up about the realities of childbirth, sharing details of the “intense” pain she felt and the numerous stitches she needed after birth.
“So for those wondering, I was induced the evening before and had my waters broke the following morning at 7am and Hugh was in my arms by 12.31pm,” she explained.
“I must add I was also on a hormone drip and took part in research to see if the higher the dose of hormones given would reduce the risk of a section so let me tell you the contractions were intense.
“I was having eight mega contractions every 10 minutes and suddenly he appeared.
“It was down the higher dosage of hormones why things happened so quickly which yeah is great but very painful when your only having gas and air (which I thought was s*** and didn’t make a difference.
“I tore ridiculously so needed a hell of a lot of stitches.”
She fired back at the trolls and added: “This has turned into a part birth story – never mind might as well give the picky people the story.
“So no, I wasn’t bragging at all because it was a very long two days.”
This isn’t the first time that Georgia has been cruelly slammed online for her parenting.
Shortly after becoming a mum, Georgia was shamed by trolls over the positioning of Hugh’s car seat.
In a post showing High snoozing in his seat, the Gogglebox star wrote: “The filter is needed today.”
“Up and out surviving on 0 sleep but he’s so cute so it’s OK.”
But she received messages from people incorrectly complaining to her that the seat was fastened the wrong way round.
Under safety regulations, that type of car seat must face the back of the car, until the child is 15 months old.
Georgia hit back: “For everyone picking faults his car seat is rear facing if you actually watch the video.”
The star, posting during a day of record temperatures in the UK, added: “Mind your business people. I’m actually far too hot for the BS.”
She announced Hugh’s birth on Instagram in July, writing: “Our beautiful boy has made his entrance.”
Her best pal and co-star Abbie Lynn wrote: “Congratulations to you both. He is beautiful in every way, I am such a proud Aunty and best friend.”
The duo joined the show back in 2018 and quickly become fan favourites, providing hilarious antics every week.
