Former CT trooper avoids jail after pleading guilty to assault, threatening charges
A former Connecticut State Police trooper was sentenced to probation after pleading guilty to assault and threatening charges on Wednesday.
Jaime Solis, 30, took a plea deal in Rockville Superior Court that included three years of probation, according to the clerk’s office.
He pleaded guilty to charges of second-degree assault, third-degree assault and second-degree threatening during the proceeding Wednesday, a representative from the clerk’s office said.
A five-year suspended prison sentence will be hanging over Solis’ head while he is on probation.
Solis was arrested on Aug. 1, 2022, after police in Vernon received reports of a domestic violence incident at the then-trooper’s home. According to court papers, Solis struck a woman in the face while she was holding a baby.
The victim suffered a serious laceration during the incident, court documents said. The child was not hurt.
Solis at the time was a Connecticut State Police Trooper assigned to Troop D in Danielson. He was placed on administrative duty following the arrest and has since resigned as a trooper.
