I bought a dress for Taylor Swift’s tour – what I got looks like a ‘microwave,’ I’m in my ‘stovetop popcorn’ era
DAYS before Taylor Swift kicked off her Eras Tour, one Swiftie received her tour outfit in the mail – and she was not ready for it.
Though she knows all too well the dress is not her style, some followers said she needs to calm down and shake off the bad experience.
To celebrate snagging sought-after tickets for Taylor Swift’s upcoming tour, Baylee McCloskey (@333baylee) did some shopping.
She ordered a silver dress online to replicate the metallic numbers Swift wore in photoshoots and on the red carpet during her “Bleachella” era.
But when the dress arrived, McCloskey broke down in tears like she was listening to track number five on any of the singer’s albums.
“You wanna know why I’m crying?” she asked her followers in a video. “My Eras Tour outfit came and it’s so bad.”
She showed a few photos of Swift with a bleached bob, wearing designer duds that made her look like a mirror ball.
But when McCloskey put on her purchase, the girl in the dress looked nothing like the icon in the Vogue photoshoot.
“Why do I look like a microwave?” McCloskey moaned.
She modeled the metallic material which was pleated accordion-style and hung loosely from her torso and arms.
Viewers were shocked by the big reveal. Then, McCloskey showed the dress she’d intended to buy.
“This is what I found online,” she said, showing a photo of a belted dress on a shopping website. “It didn’t even come with the belt.”
Some viewers said the horrible dress was McCloskey’s fault, and her care shopping habits are why she can’t have nice things.
“Girl, the dress you thought you bought is also hideous,” one critic said. “Not the same vibe as Taylor’s at all.”
“You got it, minus the belt,” wrote another viewer.
McCloskey, for her part, didn’t tell viewers “don’t blame me” and instead admitted her part in the debacle.
“I take ownership,” she said. “The pics online weren’t great.”
With McCloskey’s blessing, her viewers began a round of teasing.
“Horrified looks from everyone in the room,” wrote a fellow Swiftie, quoting Swift’s own song Speak Now.
Some made more generous comparisons to the singer.
“[Swift] talked about feeling like a Pop Tart wrapper in that one dress,” a diligent fan reassured McCloskey.
Others said she was in her “stovetop popcorn era.” One person said of the dress, “It’s giving Jiffy Pop.”
A friend told McCloskey that, while she did look like a microwave, at least she was “a cute microwave.”
“Make all the boy microwaves go BEEEEEP,” she added.
Some were confident the dress could be salvaged, even if McCloskey said they were never ever ever getting back together after her TikTok.
“Add something like fringe to the sleeves,” one recommended. “I’m telling you, you can make it work.”
Another encouraged her, “Chop the sleeves and it’ll be so cute.”
McCloskey even poked fun at herself by using Swift’s song, Paris, as a backing track for her own at-home photoshoot.
“And all the outfits were terrible, 2003 unbearable,” Swift sang as McCloskey posed in her sad, beautiful, tragic dress.
