ET has learnt Bangladesh Railway Authorities sought alternative funding for the project (Akhaura-Sylhet rail upgradation) but certain other highly placed authorities conveyed that any attempt to seek alternative finance may impact bilateral ties with China and create trouble for other Chinese funded projects in the country.
