Record-Breaking 52-Car Entry For GT4 European Series
The 2023 entry list for the GT4 European Series has been revealed. It features a record 52 cars for the full season, up from 50 last year and 37 in 2021.
Across the entry list, nine manufacturers are represented, by 31 teams from 10 countries. They will travel across Europe, visiting six circuits, competing in 12 races.
2023 will be the third year in succession that the GT4 European Series grid will feature cars from nine different manufacturers, all of them returning from 2022. With cars from German, French, British, Japanese and American brands.
The quartet of German marques are strongly represented with teams entering the Audi R8 LMS GT4 (eight cars), the all-new G82-series BMW M4 GT4 (four cars), the Mercedes-AMG GT4 (six cars) and an extended line-up of Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS ClubSport (11 cars).
This year’s most popular brand, however, is from Britain, as 14 Aston Martin AMR GT4s are entered for the season. The French flag will be flown by the upgraded Alpine GT4 EVO (five cars) meanwhile, and three major crowd-pleasers complete the grid: the brand-new McLaren Artura with two cars and single entries from teams running the Chevrolet Camaro GT4.R and Toyota GR Supra GT4 Evo.
As for the classes, the Silver Cup category features a field of 23 cars, while 13 cars will battle for Pro-Am victories and 11 cars are set to go head-to-head in Am. The remaining five cars are yet to be placed into specific classes.
“We are extremely happy to fill our grid with 52 cars, the season record to date for our series,” says Laurent Gaudin, GT4 European Series General Manager.
“Such an impressive number of cars, which will be even bigger when GT4 Scandinavia joins us at two events, is a dream for racing fans. Having said that, we are also aware of the challenges presented by this immense grid and will take the necessary measures to ensure that races can run in the best possible conditions, including a number of regulation changes where necessary.
“The entire team at SRO Motorsports Group is now excited to get this amazing season underway in just a few weeks’ time when the lights turn green at Monza.”
In addition to the 52 cars in for the full season, the SRO expects additional entries to surface for one-off rounds. The GT4 Scandinavia competitors will further expand the grid by at least 11 cars for the races at Circuit Paul Ricard and Spa-Francorchamps too.
All rounds of the GT4 European Series will once again run in support of Fanatec GT World Challenge Europe Powered by AWS.
