British woman stabbed to death in Spain and man arrested ‘fleeing scene’

A British woman has been killed at her home on the Costa Blanca.

The 64-year-old was found stabbed to death inside the property in Orihuela Costa, south of Alicante, around 4am this morning.

A 69-year-old man, also thought to be British, is understood to have been arrested as he allegedly tried to flee the scene.

He is under police guard in hospital with a knife wound to the stomach

A neighbour raised the alarm with police around 3.50am, with officers rushing to the property.
