I spent ages transforming my boring staircase but trolls reckon it looked loads better before… I don’t care, I love it
A HOME interiors fan was slammed after renovating her staircase and ditching the vibrant rug for a light grey one.
Looking to transform her home, one TikTok user Louise (@louise_andallthingshome) decided to drastically change the staircase, sharing the final result on social media.
According to Louise, who’s documented the stunning makeover on TikTok, the house had originally come with a rich teal rug and wooden side panelling.
But instead of keeping this look, the home interiors fanatic opted to go for a more modern aesthetic.
As well as swapping the rug for a light grey one, Louise got rid of the wide wooden panelling and installed sleek mirrors on the side instead.
However, despite Louise insisting she preferred the updated staircase, mean trolls criticised the woman, saying the Before was a lot better.
Numerous haters flocked to comments, where one said they were not a fan of the colour combination.
”Grey – how original. Looked better before.”
Someone else agreed, adding: ”In 20 years everyone’s going to say ‘why does everything look like an Apple Store” and this is why!!!”
A third meanie penned: ”Blaaaaaaand city [sic].”
”Idk, this is too sterile for me, looks like a hotel,” another person was not particularly amazed by the results.
Luckily for Louise, who said this makeover took a little over a year, it wasn’t all negative feedback, as dozens claimed they loved the After.

”1000% better. Morden [modern], you do how you want your forever home, simple,” a fan wrote under the video.
Recently. another TikTok user, Olivia Watters (@oliviawattershome), found herself in the middle of a heated discussion after transforming her plain bathroom.
Olivia, who describes her content as ‘Home Design’, shared the before and after clips after transforming the small space.
The 10-second video started with a completely blank and bare bathroom featuring white walls, a toilet, a standalone sink with no mirror as well as a short storage unit on the side.
“When people see how we designed our boring bathroom,” she wrote over the top of the footage.
As the clip zoomed in on the room, a trending voice could be heard saying: “You… Will… Be…” – a tune from Broadway’s Wicked musical.
In the next scene, Olivia could be seen opening the bathroom door to reveal the modifications she made.
“Popular,” the voice continued. “You’re going to be popular”.
With black and white marble plastered behind the toilet and sink, she added gallery walls on either side of the white walls.
The home design guru added a mirror above the sink, a towel rack and several home accessories, including diffuser sticks, hand cream and a plant.
She painted the ceiling black and also placed a cupboard where the storage unit used to sit – adding to the aesthetic feel of the room.
Prior to this clip, Olivia had shared that she found their downstairs bathroom “boring” and wanted to add “more life” into it.
In a bid to make the space stand out more, she printed out some family photos from trips they took together and framed them in various sizes.
While the TikTok star was left pleased with the final look, some of her viewers were not quite as enthused.
“From boring straight over to too busy,” one hater wrote in the comments section.
Another questioned: “But why all the pictures in the bathroom lol,” as a third argued: “U really don’t understand what happens in that room”.
A fourth joked: “I thought this was a nice jail bathroom”.
And a fifth added: “I’ve got to say it, that isn’t a bathroom.”
While a sixth said: “Giving you can never go to the toilet alone more meaning! It looks lush though.” [sic]
“Why would you loved one’s photos in a toilet space,” [sic] another questioned.
Others came to her defence, however, as they praised her for having such an imaginative view of what a bathroom should look like.
“This is amazing, Love it,” one keen viewer commented.
Another asked: “Is the marble a wallpaper? If so, where from please” to which Olivia responded: “The Calcatta Marble wallpaper from Belarte Studio!”
A third said they’re modelling their bathroom much in the same way as they quizzed: “What pictures are in there? Family? Is there a theme? We’re putting pictures in ours.”
While a fourth added: “Oh my god it reminds me of the bathrooms in Frankie and Benny’s in the best way! If you know, you know”.
