Cubs Prospects Hit 4 Consecutive Home Runs
It does not matter where you see it, hitting 4 consecutive home runs is impressive no matter what field it happens on. That’s what some saw during a game of minor leaguers on Saturday, when four Cubs prospects accomplished the rare feat of hitting back-to-back-to-back-to-back home runs.
Maybe the most impressive of the four, at least visual wise, was the first one. One of the top outfield prospects in the Cubs minor league system is 20-year-old Kevin Alcántara. He’s still filling out his 6-foot-6 inch frame, but the power is already there for the right-handed hitter. This is one strong hitter at the plate.
The other three home runs came from shortstop Kevin Made, left-handed hitter Yohendrick Piñango and 2022 draft pick Haydn McGeary.
But again, the launch angle from Alcántara’s homer is ridiculous. Ball looks like it went straight up in the air, but he still hammered it over the fence. You can see all four dingers in the Twitter videos below.
By the way, besides Alcántara, if you want to closely follow any of the other dudes that went yard yesterday it’s gotta be Haydn McGeary. That guy looks massive up at bat and just looks like a future slugger in the big leagues to me.
McGeary was drafted in the 15th round in 2022 out of Colorado Mesa University, where the right-handed hitter put up some insane numbers. He finished his senior year in college slashing .481/.579/.1.061, hitting 35 home runs in 57 games.
He’s a huge dude, standing at 6-foot-5, 235 pounds. After signing with the Cubs, McGeary played in rookie ball in Arizona and got some time at Myrtle Beach in A-Ball, slashing .292/.346/.458, in 12 games. McGeary has a few at-bats in spring training and earlier this week he mashed a bases-clearing double against the Arizona Diamondbacks at Sloan Park.
You know what, McGeary kind of reminds me of Aramis Ramírez up at the plate.
