Girl mauled by 4 ‘pitbulls’ who charged at her as she ‘knocked on neighbour’s door while playing with pals’
A SCHOOLGIRL was mauled by four pitbulls who charged at her as she played with her pals, a horrified neighbour has recalled.
The youngster was knocking on a neighbour’s door in Carrington, Greater Manchester, moments before the savage incident happened.
A pensioner living nearby said she was then “pounced” on by the pack of vicious dogs as the front door was opened.
The girl was rushed to hospital around 2.40pm on Sunday.
The man, who didn’t want to be named, said: “It all happened yesterday afternoon. The girl was out playing with friends
“She ran up a neighbour’s path to knock on the door I think.
“That is when the dogs pounced on her.
“I have heard they were pitbulls. I know about dogs and what a pack can do.”
He said a similar incident happened a few months ago.
“A woman was walking her dog nearby and the pack got out and attacked her dog in the road,” he added.
“It was a bad one.”
Three people were arrested at the scene on suspicion of owning a dangerous dog.
The four canines were taken by specialist officers.
The girl remains in hospital with serious but non life-threatening injuries, say cops.
According to the Mailonline, her mum screamed “help me – my baby” as she tried to fight off the animals.
Another neighbour told how police vans sped down the road.
They said: “We just all heard all these sirens yesterday and then saw police vans roaring down the road.
“It was such a shame.”
The attack happened in Ackers Lane, a quiet residential road not far from Manchester United’s training ground.
Greater Manchester Police said: “Shortly before 2.40pm yesterday police were called to a report of a child who had suffered injuries caused by dogs at an address on Ackers Lane, Carrington.
