I’m trying to track down baby daddy after one night stand in Tenerife – trolls say he’s hiding from me
A MUM-TO-BE told how she’s desperate to find her baby’s dad before the tot is born.
Sarah-Jayne Snow, 30, came back from Tenerife last year with a lot more than duty free perfume and a suntan after a one-night stand on the beach.
She had a boozy fling with a lad aged 19, but didn’t swap numbers and didn’t get his name.
All she can remember is that he said he worked at the Braehead Shopping Centre in Glasgow.
Now she’s launched an appeal to track him down to let him know he’s going to become a father next month.
Sarah-Jayne, from East Lothian, said: “It was a consensual thing between two drunk adults.
“I purposely didn’t ask for his number and he didn’t ask for mine. It was a mutual parting.
“But when I discovered I was pregnant I knew I had to try and find him.
“I can look after my son alone but I don’t want him feeling like he’s missed out on knowing who his father is.
“All I want is for the dad and his family to know so that if they want to be involved they can be.”
Sarah-Jayne was on holiday with her sister in the island’s sunshine resort Playa De Las Americas last August.
She ended up on the strip alone at 5am after her sister headed home early and said she was approached by the teen.
He offered to walk her home and she claims at first she didn’t want to take things any further because she was then 29 and he was 19.
She decided to Facetime her sister and took a snap of the guy for safety, and that’s all she has of him.
Sarah said: “I took the picture to say I’m safe and I’ll be home soon. It was just a one night stand. I kept saying 19 was really young as I was 29, but he kept persisting.
“I genuinely know I was a lot more drunk than him. The only reason we slept together was because he stopped me in the street and asked me to go with him.
“I didn’t approach him because I was definitely too drunk.”
Childcare worker Sarah-Jayne said she was hungover for days so never got round to taking the morning after pill.
Then she was horrified when she discovered she was pregnant. After a lot of soul-searching she decided to keep the baby and become a mum for the first time.
She said: “I was shocked and scared. But something in my heart just told me I should keep the baby.
“I don’t know the dad but I definitely feel like I’m ready to be a mum.”
Sarah-Jayne says she isn’t looking for handouts from the dad and only wants to give him a chance to be involved.
She’s even open to having him at the birth at the end of April if he can prove he wants to be part of the youngster’s life.
She said: “This is in no way for financial gain. I just know how important it is to know where you come from.
“Obviously being a single mum is scary but I will manage. I have a beautiful home and don’t need anything from the baby dad.
“But it’s not about me any more. I have to think about my son and his needs too.”
Sarah doesn’t see any chance of the pair ever becoming a couple but she is keen to track him down and at least let him know what’s happening.
She added: “It would make me happy for my boy if I found him.
“I have a very small family and I don’t want my son to miss out on love from both sides. It’s what he deserves.
“Letting someone know they are going to be a dad is the right thing to do.”
Sarah’s online appeal to find the dad has racked up more than two million views on TikTok but she’s still no closer to getting in touch with him.
Some social media users have applauded her bravery in sharing her story, as one said: “I hope you find him. You’re showing braveness putting your story on here for all to see, bless you. At least you can tell your son you tried.”
Meanwhile, a second added: “Good luck. Baby deserves to know his dad, and dad deserves to know baby. Hope it’s a happy ending.”
But others claimed he clearly hadn’t told her the truth about his home life set up and is hiding from her.
One told her: “His girlfriend is sitting at home watching this.”
A second said: “He’s back home with his missus, telling her how much he loves her and all that.”
A third added: “His long term girlfriend and mother of his three other kids will see this.”
And a fourth wrote: “Your video’s reached Ireland…which is where he’s probably hiding now.”
Hitting back at the haters, Sarah said: “It’s fine, the negative comments help the appeal get shared. It’s all for my son’s benefit.”
