Tempting Fortune fans all say the same thing about contestant Lani as she blows £500 on milkshake and angers teammates
TEMPTING Fortune fans have all said the same thing about one of the contestants – after they blew £500 on a milkshake.
The brand-new programme, which is presented by Paddy McGuinness and sees 12 strangers give up their luxuries to take on the toughest of terrains, kicked off last night.
Last night, viewers were left in shock as they watched on while show star Lani blew some of the cash pot on a milkshake.
The show sees the stars take part in an 18-day-long trek, where the contestants face the temptations of home comforts.
However, if they give in, then the £300,000 joint cash prize will start to dwindle based on the prices of the items.
Despite only airing for one episode so far, the prize pot has already started to be chipped away at thanks to Lani’s move.
Lani said she was going to be taking treats, and said to the group she would be having a milkshake despite its £500 price tag.
The group said Lani “isn’t a team player” as they got riled up by her opinions and said she should’ve “stayed at home” instead of coming on the show.
Lani went ahead and had her vanilla milkshake, despite the rest of the team asking her if she was sure she wanted it.
She said: “I feel really down and I need a pick-me-up. It’s my decision and life is more important than money.”
The group were quick to tell Lani that it was also their money she was spending on the milkshake and that she “couldn’t quit” if she went ahead with the decision.
After enjoying her milkshake in front of her teammates they struggled to hold back their frustrations.
Watching on, fans flooded Twitter after the scenes to suggest that Lani had been planted by producers to cause trouble.
“Lani is the Channel 4 plant to wind people up,” one wrote, while another chimed in: “Lani has to be a Channel 4 plant.”
“These people were chosen for good telly and I suspect Lani is a plant on a separate contract,” a third agreed.
Elsewhere, viewers were also left angry by the move, as they hit out that Lani wasn’t “right for the show”.
The milkshake scenario wasn’t the only one to frustrate viewers last night.
Lani started to complain as they attempted to climb sand dunes, with the hopeful giving out about having to walk.
As she struggled to climb, she had demanded a helicopter.
The team then helped the 33-year-old complete the challenge as they feared she might quit – which would result in £25k being lost from the prize pot.
