I’m a gym girl who believes we should free the tatas – men have their pecs out all the time, we should too
ONE TikToker has called out the platform for its gendered double standards when it comes to exposed chests.
This influencer had to start a new account after her old one was deleted over an uncovered nipple.
“FREE THE NIP,” Jennifer Keddy (@jennuinewaters) wrote over a recent clip.
“Here’s my argument: guys have their shirts off all the time,” she said.
As someone who can benchpress 250lbs, Keddy didn’t see why her breasts should be treated any differently than a male bodybuilder’s chest.
“Honestly, these aren’t really boobs,” Keddy said while showing off a side view of her chest.
” I would more consider them a pec,” she said. “So suck on that.”
Her commenters were mostly on the same page, but not always for the same reasons.
Some appeared motivated by equality.
“Just do it, we are all the same,” one commenter said.
“FREE THE PECS!!!” said another.
But others wanted a peek at Keddy’s breasts.
“So where can we see what got you deleted?” one commenter asked.
“Hmm we need more evidence… for science,” said another.
A few viewers took the opportunity to shoot their shot.
“I’d say they are s’pec’tacular,” said one commenter.
“They deleted you because you are beautiful and someone just did not like the competition,” another said.
“Awww that’s sweet,” Keddy said. “Thank you!”
Although losing her old account likely lost Keddy some followers, she’s already racked up nearly 4,000 on the new one over the past six weeks.
The influencer is not standing up to TikTok and societal expectations alone.
The “no-bra club” is another corner of the platform where women are advocating for more freedom and less judgment.
“When I get told I should wear a bra more often… It’s a straight no for me” TikTok user Scarlett-Mae (@ScarlettMaeUK) said.
Another TikToker (@notfamilyfriendly__) said she avoids wearing one of the garments whenever possible.
“I hate bras w a passion,” she said.
“I only wear one if my nipples [gonna] show.”
