Louis Hackett, 19, who lured best pal Kieran Williams to spot where he was stabbed & buried in Sunderland is jailed
A TEEN has been jailed after her lured his best friend to the spot where he was stabbed to death and buried in a makeshift grave.
Kieran Williams’ decomposing body was found in a 75cm-deep grave in Sunderland.
Kieran, who lived in supported accommodation, was at the home of his mum, Tracey Williams, on April 18.
She went out for food around 5.30pm. When she returned later on, he was not there.
Jurors at Newcastle Crown Court were told the 18-year-old had suffered more than 20 stab wounds in a “prolonged and sustained attack”.
On May 31 last year, cops discovered a grave dug in a wooded area near a disused industrial estate in Sunderland.
Today Louis Hackett, 19, was convicted of manslaughter – but cleared of his murder.
Following sentencing, Det Ch Insp Matt Steel, of Northumbria Police, said: “Our thoughts continue to be with Kieran’s family and loved ones following their loss.
“This is a truly tragic case in which a family have been left completely devastated and we will continue to support them wherever we can.
“We want to make it clear that violence of any kind is completely unacceptable – and is never the answer.
“When incidents do occur we are committed to doing all we can to bring those responsible to justice by putting them before the court.
“We can confirm this remains an open investigation and we are actively pursuing a number of lines of enquiry, and we will also continue to act on any new information which comes forward”.Hackett’s co-defendant, Ben Cook, 19, was found not guilty of murder at the conclusion of their trial in February.
