Donald Trump grand jury reconvenes and hears testimony from ex-National Enquirer publisher
A grand jury in ex-President Donald Trump’s hush money case has reconvened and heard testimony from the former publisher of the National Enquirer.
The grand jury meet again on Monday, after not meeting around Trump’s case on Wednesday and Thursday of last week.
David Pecker, the former publisher of the magazine, was seen leaving the building where the grand jury meets around 3.30pm on Monday, according to The New York Times.
Pecker and the then-top editor of the magazine helped broker the $130,000 payment that Trump’s former personal lawyer Michael Cohen made to porn star Stormy Daniels to silence her on her alleged affair with Trump.
The grand jury proceeded after its meetings on the hush money case were suddenly and inexplicably canceled mid-last week.
Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg has been investigating any role Trump’s had in the hush payment made during the 2016 presidential campaign, and the grand jury is expected to vote on an indictment soon.
Trump announced just over a week ago, on March 18, that he expected to be arrested. It prompted protests peaceful protests on both sides of the issue and planning and stepped up security measures by law enforcement officials in New York City and other major cities across the US.
