Man ‘stole 67 pieces of underwear’ to hang on his ‘masturbation tree’
A man stole 67 pieces of underwear from washing lines, used them to pleasure himself and then hung them on his ‘masturbation tree’.
Ophas Chuenjit, 27, was arrested after a driver passing by discovered the bizarre tree in the woods near his home in Kamphaeng Phet, central Thailand.
He reportedly told police that when he was drunk, he would help himself to underwear belonging to women, men, the elderly and even children.
Colonel Somchai Mongkonwong said: ‘The suspect would sniff the private garments while masturbating and would discard them once the odour of the owners had faded.
‘He would hang them on the bamboo clump behind the hospital.’
Rangsan Jaisaen, 55, spotted the strange tree while on his way to meet a friend last Friday.
Mr Jaisaen thought it was so unusual he reported it to the police.
Several residents in nearby villages had complained about their missing underwear but did not know their clothes had been stolen or what they were used for.
Six villagers who believe their underwear was taken by Chuenjit filed complaints against him.
Officers have urged anyone else who thinks they were a victim to this crime to come forward.
Chuenjit has been charged with stealing and faces a jail sentence between one and five years, a fine between 2,000 to 10,000 baht (£47 to £237) or both.
The underwear has been cleared from the tree and taken to the police station as evidence.
