Preview – UCD vs Derry City
UCD vs Derry City – Monday 6th March – KO 7.45pm – Belfield Bowl
SSE Airtricity League of Ireland – Premier Division
Alan Reynolds will take charge of Derry City at UCD on Monday night and the Waterford man echoed Ruaidhri Higgins post-match comments at Tallaght as they left for Belfield on Sunday afternoon.
The gaffer- who will attend his brother’s funeral on Monday- was quick to point out after the weekend’s 2-1 win that it was vital for City to build on that success.
“As Ruaidhri said, we need to focus very quickly on the trip to Belfield. We got a great result against Shamrock Rovers but with three games in a week we’ve had to get straight back into our work” said Reynolds.
“UCD will be looking to bounce back after losing in Cork and we saw in their performances against Dundalk and Sligo in the first two games that they can be a match for anyone.”
“We can only focus on what we do of course, and we’ll definitely be going there looking to add another three points.”
Adam O’Reilly looks to be nearing full fitness, however the Assistant Manager confirmed that he would again be working off the same squad that beat ‘the Hoops’ at the weekend.
“Thankfully we have no new injuries to contend with and a couple of the lads are now much closer to coming back in.
“Another few days recovery won’t do any harm so we’ll be sticking with the same squad for Monday.”
The Candystripes won all four games against Andy Myler’s side last season but both matches at the Bowl were fairly close affairs.
Derry round off a hectic few days with a home game against Dundalk on Friday, however all the focus is on the Students for now.
Action gets under way at 7.45pm and the match will be streamed live on LOITV.
