Sara Davies shocks Dragons’ Den viewers with ‘savage’ dig at entrepreneur
BBC’s Dragons’ Den star Sara Davies gives beauty entrepreneurs a grilling before stating there is “not a chance” she’ll give them her money.
The crafting queen, 38, was in a “savage” mood as she gave two entrepreneurs a very hard time who came into the den in last night’s episode.
A husband and wife duo, Karlee and Omar, came seeking £100,000 for 2% for their business, Hello Klean.
Their shower clean brand creates shower essentials for hard water, like a shower filter and scalp soak.
But the couple’s pitch failed to impress dragon Sara Davies.
Sara bombarded the business people with question after question and was not satisfied by their answers or lack of passion – and wasn’t afraid to let them now.
Omar told Sara it is “very difficult” to get an IP in the beauty space, to which she responded: “Yes, I know.”
She then told him: “There is nothing defensible about these products here. There are other people solving this problem in the same way.”
Sara added: “I’m really struggling to understand what is unique about the business proposition.”
She shared their products were not unique enough to value their business at £5 million.
Sara confessed: “It doesn’t sound like a great deal to me guys.”
Waiting for a passionate response from the pair, Sara quipped: “It sound like it’s a great deal to you either.”
“No?” she asked again in an awkward silent exchange with the couple looking rather nervous.
Sara concluded: “That was your opportunity to convince me otherwise. And as you have not even tried to do that, I’m going to tell you straight up. There is not a chance I’ll give you my money, and I’m out.”
Viewers rushed to Twitter to share their thoughts on Sara’s brutal dig.
One said: “Sara is in a foul mood tonight.”
Another wrote: “Wow savage Sara.”
Despite Sara’s gruelling interrogation, the pair did walk away with a deal and dragon on board.
The newest and youngest ever dragon Steven Bartlett admitted he knew people in the beauty space and could help with storytelling and mentoring.
He offered all of the money for 10% – undercutting his fellow dragons.
Omar asked: “Would you be open to have a deal where we buy back the shares, we can offer you 3% equity plus another 3 if we pay back the investment in eighteen months.”
Stephen replied: “I’d be open to doing 7.5% – to which you can structure it however you want,” leading to the trio doing a deal.
Dragon’s Den is available to watch on BBC iPlayer.
