'Super Mario Bros. Movie' Debuts with Strong Box Office Numbers, On Track to Break a Record Held by Beloved Disney Movie
The Super Mario Bros. Movie is off to an extremely strong start at the box office.
The animated movie starring the likes of Chris Pratt, Charlie Day and Anya Taylor-Joy premiered in theaters on April 5, and it’s already broken several records.
It’s also on track to break a big one that’s been held by a beloved Disney feature for quite some time.

According to Deadline, the movie has already bested Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, which previously had the best three-day box office sales for 2023. It is on track to fall behind only Incredibles 2 in the race to nab the best-selling debut for an animated picture in the United States and Canada.
On a global scale, The Super Mario Bros. Movie is expected to best a record held by Disney’s Frozen 2. As it edges closer to its projected earnings of $368 million, the movie is likely to beat the Frozen sequel’s $358 million opening and become the animated movie with the best global debut of all time.
