Hayward: Man dies in electric scooter collision

A 56-year-old man died on Thursday in Hayward after an accident involving his electric scooter.

Officers responded to the 200 block of Benmore Drive on Thursday evening at 10:46 p.m. to find a man unconscious after crashing his scooter. The victim was transported to the hospital and later died — and authorities say alcohol may have been involved in the incident.

The victim’s identity will be released once the next-of-kin is notified. It is Hayward’s third fatal collision this year.
