Erik ten Hag plans double raid on Feyenoord after Tyrell Malacia success - report
Manchester United were keeping tabs on Feyenoord midfielder Orkun Kokcu and striker Santiago Gimenez during their Dutch Cup semi-final against Ajax, The Mirror report.
The Red Devils are expected to spend big in the next transfer window. A new striker and a creative midfielder could be among the top priorities for manager Erik ten Hag.
Tottenham Hotspur’s Harry Kane has been frequently linked with a move to Old Trafford in recent months, but it appears the club are also keeping tabs on several other strikers.
As per The Mirror, United had scouts in Rotterdam for the fiesty encounter between Feyenoord and Ajax.
They were monitoring Gimenez as well as midfielder Kokcu, who have been instrumental in Feyenoord’s tremendous run in the Eredivisie. They are five points clear at the top.
Ten Hag brought in Tyrell Malacia from Feyenoord last summer after hijacking Lyon’s deal at the 11th hour and he now has his sights on pursuing Gimenez and Kokcu.
Erik ten Hag planning double raid on Feyenoord?
Gimenez signed for the Eredivisie outfit from Cruz Azul last summer and he has been a fine acquisition.
The 21-year-old started off in a slow fashion but has picked up his form since the World Cup. The Mexican has registered 17 goals and three assists from 36 appearances.
In our opinion, United could attempt to sign a marquee striker such as Kane, Victor Osimhen or Goncalo Ramos. Gimenez could be considered as a potential rotation option.
Meanwhile, Kokcu has been building his reputation over the past few years. Ten Hag should know about his qualities, having watched him in action when he was Ajax’s manager.
Now 22, the Turkey international is the club captain. He has impressed from the number eight role this term, registering 12 goals and three assists from 37 appearances.
Christian Eriksen has been fantastic since his free transfer from Brentford but Kokcu could be seen as a competitor and a long-term successor to the Danish midfielder.
