Antioch Speedway Results – April 15, 2023
by: Candice Martin
Another night in the record books. We had the Hunt Wingless Spec Sprint season opener. After we had 28 cars show up for the Soares Memorial last year, we figured we’d do okay. We ended up with 35 cars. That meant a very competitive field, and just earning a spot in the Main Event took effort.
There were some exciting moments in that race, and it was one of our Antioch area drivers, Shawn Arriaga, picking up the win. The IMCA Sport Modified show was also interesting. Reigning champion Fred Ryland got the win there, and now he is one win shy of JD Willis for third on the track’s all-time combined win list.
All in all, it wasn’t a bad night of racing, but I think some fans are hungry for the IMCA Modifieds and Stock Cars. Next week we’ll get the Stock Cars and Sport Modifieds, and the Modifieds will be a part of our big NARC Winged 410 Sprint Car show at the end of the month.
Seems like we’re just starting to get a little bit of momentum going after the rain cost us so many races. However, things are coming together nicely and we’re getting everything dialed in each week. Still having a few speed bumps along the way, but our team works pretty hard to keep it all going.
