Substantial – Ex-Aberdeen Boss On Deal Terms Amid Burnley And Blackburn Interest In Dons Man
Goodwin took Duk to Pittodrie last summer from Portuguese giants Benfica and he has caught the eye in Scottish football.
The 23-year-old has found the back of the net 18 times across all competitions for Aberdeen and is drawing interest from the English Championship.
Burnley are keen on signing Duk, while Blackburn and Hull City are also on the striker’s trail.
And Goodwin has opened up on what his departure would mean for Aberdeen, who did not pay a fee for him, but would have to give Benfica significant portion of any fee.
“Duk didn’t cost a penny but there’s a substantial amount that needs to go to Benfica if he progresses”, Goodwin was quoted as saying by the Daily Record.
“It’s common sense from Benfica’s point of view because he wasn’t going to play for them and the Premiership is a great place for them to market him as well.
“So it’s win-win for everyone and if Duk gets to the 20-goal mark, the target I set in the summer, there will be a hell of a lot of clubs domestically and on the European front targeting him.
“I know they are targeting him already because I have had conversations with his agent and he thanked us for bringing him to the country.
“Where he goes will be up to Duk – but either way it’s great business. I’m happy for him on a personal level, as a young player coming here to adapt to Scottish football.
“He must be worth millions to Aberdeen.”
Burnley have secured promotion to the Premier League and may be an attractive proposition for Duk if a fee can be agreed with Aberdeen.
Blackburn and Hull will be hoping to tempt the former Benfica man to first sample Championship football before setting his sights on the Premier League.
