Your door stopper has a surprising hidden use – but TikTok hack is dividing opinion
TIKTOK is full of ingenious life hacks, but the latest one regarding a piece of hardware on most doors has divided users.
A door stopper is traditionally used to stop the door from hitting the wall near it, but one user revealed a trick that has many wondering why they didn’t think of it first.
TikToker Artful Odds shared the trick to their page, and said: “From doorstopper to door keeper.”
In the video, they explained how the spring behind many doors in our home can be used not only to stop wall damage, but to prop open the door as well.
By simply pressing down on the spring and pulling the door over it, the TikToker revealed a brand new way to hold your door open – without buying another doorstopper.
One user was in awe: “Oh, so that’s why it’s called a door stopper…”
Others online were torn on the seemingly smart hack, and one user said their doorstopper wasn’t attached low enough to even try it.
Dave said: “Is it not to stop it hitting the wall???”
Another piped in: “That’s not what it’s for. They make a separate wedge thing to actually keep the door open.
“You can see this one’s spring near the base looks more stretched out.
“It’s gonna bend it out of shape and out of the wall eventually.”
Dedrick on Twitter said: “It’s not stopping the door at that point. Definitely gonna get a wall ding or hole soon.”
One profile on Twitter found the “hack” hilarious: “I thought it was something you play with after you caught a whoopin and yo momma say you can’t play the game, watch tv or use the phone. So you in a room with nothing to do.”
