I live in a council house but know how to make a pad look good – I transformed my home from a rundown mess on the cheap
A COUNCIL tenant who gutted her run down pad has been praised for turning it into a stylish and neutral haven.
Content creator Celene said she has “an eye for interior and DIY” which helped her transform her home.
People have hailed the mum-of-one for proving “love and care” is all it takes to create a “beautiful” home and breaking down stigmas surrounding social housing.
Posting under the TikTok profile @61thecouncilhouse, the DIY whizz showcased what she did to revamp the worn-down house.
Among these was painting her radiators black, adding big white doors with contrasting black handles and creating a marble-style counter for the kitchen.
Celene has decorated the home with bargain buys from B&M, Home Bargains and Primark.
These include Primark’s viral £2.50 bubble candles and £1.50 body shape candles.
She has also invested in pieces from H&M Home, as well as cute Smeg kitchen appliances.
Projects that required a bit more work were adding panelling to the living room and gutting the council-standard bathroom to create a modern one.
Celene opted to decorate with a neutral hue and add stand-out decorations in black and blue.
A recent video showing her home before and after has racked up a whopping 500,000 views and almost 50,000 likes.
One viewer gushed: “It doesn’t matter who owns the property.
“It’s your home and it’s beautiful.
“Pat yourself on your back for me.”
A second said: “This films me with so much hope.
“I just got my council house and I’m so overwhelmed.
“This looks amazing.”
Others praised Celene’s “amazing taste” in interior design and urged her not to “undermine her talent”.
One said: “You for sure should turn your skills into a business.
“Because girl!”
