According to La Repubblica (as relayed by Area Napoli), Tottenham Hotspur have now reached out to Napoli regarding a summer move for goalkeeper Alex Meret.
Multiple publications have reported over the last couple of months that Spurs are expected to sign a successor to Hugo Lloris at the end of this season.

The likes of Valencia’s Giorgi Mamardashvili, Brentford’s David Raya, Brighton’s Robert Sanchez and AC Milan’s Mike Maignan are thought to be at the top of the Lilywhites’ wishlist (Football.London).
Some Italian outlets have suggested over recent weeks that Meret is also on the North London club’s radar, with NapoliCalcioLive even claiming on April 11 that the Premier League club have identified the 26-year-old as their top target.
If La Repubblica’s latest update is to be believed, Spurs have now taken the first steps towards signing the Napoli number one, having enquired about the goalkeeper’s availability.
It is explained that the Serie A club and Meret’s representatives have asked for time to make a decision.
The goalkeeper’s agent Federico Pastorello is expected to meet with the Napoli hierarchy soon to decide between signing a new deal or listening to offers that come their way this summer, including the one from Tottenham.

None of the English publications or the journalists with sources high up at Tottenham have suggested that Meret is one of Tottenham’s top targets.
That suggests that the speculation might be fed to the press by the goalkeeper’s camp in order to potentially put pressure on Napoli ahead of contract talks.
