I spent £800 on Skims Swim – the stuff was so fancy but I only kept one thing… here’s why you need to be wary
A YOUTUBER who dropped £800 on Skims swimwear has warned there’s one thing to be wary of with the swimsuits.
Roxy Janiszewska is a veteran at Skims hauls, regularly dropping hundreds of pounds on items from Kim Kardashian’s brands.
And as summer approaches, the YouTuber (who goes by Roxxsaurus online) tried on a host of items from the shapewear line’s water-friendly offering.
Roxy was inspired by pictures of Kim herself rocking the swimwear and decided to record herself trying some items.
However, the 27-year-old warned that the one-pieces have a tendency to dig into the hips and create a “weird” silhouette.
The first look Roxy tried on was the Sport Swim Cheeky Bottom for £58 in hot pink shade Hibiscus and the matching high neck top for £78.
What’s unique about the pieces was the drawstring being on the inside of the bottoms and the top being fastened through velcro flaps on the shoulders.
Roxy commented: “All it means is that when they are kind of hanging out, they sort of hang over the front quite weirdly.
“And if you wanted to tuck them inside, they kind of show through the fabric.
“So that looks a little bit strange too.”
The YouTuber then went on to try the £108 Zip-up Swim Mock Neck One Piece in an electric blue – affectionately named Cobalt by Kim.
She was hoping it would look flattering but quickly noticed that the cozzie was digging into her hips.
Roxy explained: “Honestly, it’s like cutting into my circulation.
“I feel like it’s really accentuating like the fat on my hips.
“And I don’t think there’s anything wrong with my hips at all, but it’s just the way that it’s like riding into the skin… it just looks a little bit weird.”
Nevertheless, she praised how “flattering” the zip-up number was on her boobs and assured that the fabric helped them feel “supported”.
Among the other products she tried was the Zip-up Mock Neck Top for £58, its matching mid-waist shorts for £68 and a zip-up grey swimsuit for £108.
As with the blue mock-neck swimming costume, Roxy felt the grey one-piece was “cutting into” her hips.
She also tried the Zip-Up Swim Scoop Neck One Piece but felt for £98 that the quality wasn’t up to par with the previous cozzies.
Despite her qualms, there was one swimsuit Roxy tried on which she rated a ten out of ten.
The star of the shopping haul was the £108 Shaping Skim Tank One Piece in white.
The bride-to-be predicted it could be her favourite swimsuit from Skims and was “exactly what she had been looking for” ahead of her wedding in summer.
Of all the items, the white one-piece was the item she planned on keeping.
