We adopted a ‘staffy’ puppy – but shocking twist meant we got completely different animal
A WOMAN who believed she adopted a Staffordshire Bull Terrier was left stunned when she received a completely different breed.
Dog lover Celine explained she had rescued an adorable puppy from an animal shelter under the illusion that it was a staffy.
She explained she had taken home the pooch from the NTW SPCA, a non-profit charity for pets based in Canada.
Celine had already met her new furry friend’s mum, who “looked just like a staffy“, leading her to believe her dog would too.
But the owner was dealt a shock when she took her puppy home, as the animal kept on growing and growing.
Celine also noticed the canine was much more boisterous than typical staffy’s, prompting her to do some digging.
She eventually discovered that she had adopted an entirely different breed after being duped by the mum’s appearance.
In a TikTok video, she shared some snaps of a staffy alongside the words: “What I thought I was getting when I got a staffy puppy from the SPCA.”
The clip then showed her huge excited pup bouncing around the room, teaching him to give paw and him chomping on dandelions.
Celine then revealed: “Turns out the dad was a Malinois.
“Hard as it is to imagine, the mother is actually a staff. I met her.”
She was shocked to discover her pet was an extraordinary mix of two strong breeds, who seemed to take more after her dad’s side.
Celine said the shelter “had no clue” about the dog’s heritage and she “didn’t care what kind of dog she was” before adopting her anyway.
But she was keen to satisfy her curiosity about her pet’s family tree.
In the comment section, the owner told TikTokers they only found out her breed after “several DNA tests and going by her appearance, energy levels and personality.”
Celine continued: “We are always exploring. I did NOT know she was half mal… and I was not ready.
“But I have learned a lot and am still working with professional trainers to make sure I give her the best life possible.”
The clip racked up over 70,000, while social media users discussed her doggy dilemma.
One said: “Oh my god I can’t even imagine the personality and energy!”
Another wrote: “Omg I could not. You are a strong one for taking on that dog. Mal’s and staffy’s are both so smart, it’s a little scary.”
A third added: “That’s one heck of a mixture. On the bright side, you’ll never be bored.”
And a fourth chimed in: “This is why I’m terrified of getting a puppy! Got to know what I’m getting myself into.”
Others suggested Celine should try and wear her energetic dog out by putting her through her paces with agility training or sport.
The owner responded: ” I desperately want to! But we are working on her dog aggression. I think solo sports will be the ticket for her!
“Too bad, she would kill at flyball,” she joked.
We previously told how a woman bought a “purebred” Yorkshire Terrier for £1,600 – but now he looks like a goat.
Fai Naomi took to TikTok to show her followers how her pooch bizarrely came to resemble a farm animal.
Another dog lover who bought a purebred sausage dog was left furious after realising she had been scammed in the sale.
The TikToker documented the pooch growing up, which turned out to be something totally different from what she paid for.
